We wrapped up another great season at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, and since then, I have washed all the dyed goods from each day at the Festival. I also washed up everything I spun each day, and I spun more than three pounds of yarn during the Festival.
I also started a blanket project for myself. I wanted to play with Tunisian stitches and I just finished up 20 10-inch squares. I will wash and block them and lay them out to see how I want to assemble the blanket. During the making of the squares, I was thinking and planning the wedding blanket for grand-daughter, Rachel, and her future husband, Matthew. I think I want to figure out how to crochet the blanket all in one piece so there is no sewing or crocheting it together.
I also want to do some experimenting using various recipes for dyeing black. I did one set during the RenFest and got some good black on cotton fabrics and linen threads. I dyed first with black walnuts and then overdyed with logwood and iron. I got so excited and can't wait to get started on that project.
My Persicaria indigo is growing so well, I will have plenty of indigo for some of my dyeing fun all summer. I already dyed some silk with fresh leaves and love the color!
I still have my Bast Spinning and Cotton Spinning Kits available for $30.00. If you are interested in either of those, just send me an email, and we can get those sent out to you. Keep working on your own fun projects!
