De-mystifying Woolen and Worsted
Learn the difference between woolen and worsted yarns and their purposes throughout history and what they can do for you today. Using prepared fibers and by preparing your own fibers, study how combinations of the preparation and draft techniques combine to create the yarn you meant to make.
Supply Fee: $30, extensive handout and all fibers provided.
Beginner to Advanced. Students should be able to keep their wheel going and spin a thread. They need to bring a spinning wheel or a selection of drop spindles, and regular maintenance or supplies for spinning. Hand cards or combs can be brought, but they will have have these tools for borrowing during class.
Classroom: chairs in a circle for students and instructor, tables for display and note taking if students need. Electricity for computer.
