Summer Camp at the Carlos Museum
Every few years the Carlos Museum at Emory University in Atlanta asks me to teach a summer camp. This program geared towards children is always great fun for me. This year we are again focusing on Ancient American Textiles. In this program I teach they children about the Textiles of Ancient South America. We dye wool, they children learn to spin wool, alpaca and cotton and they weave it into several projects, learning about backstrap looms and frame looms. They create their own quipu and learn about the braided cords created by the Incans for many uses. It is a fun two weeks for me.
